Adnexus was engaged to complete Tx works on the VHA network for project Catalina. Catalina is a continuation of the Vodafone Tx upgrade cycle and see the introduction of IP technology into the VHA back haul transmission network. The introduction of IP technology in the transmission network see a definite change from voice dominated TDM networks to data IP networks.
We also see that the transmission IDUs have changed from basic Ericsson PDH to Ericsson TN – TN gives the carrier the ability to add and drop circuits as required to down stream sites, which gives more flexibility to meet capacity requirements in certain parts of the network.
