Project Overview

Adnexus was engaged at the ninth hour to get this project over the line. After a disappointing engagement with the original tender winners, Samsung turned to Adnexus and were rewarded with a refreshing customer-centric approach and superior project delivery from Adnexus. With only two weeks to ramp up, Adnexus was contracted to deliver, install and commission the Samsung 1X expansion RBS (fully loaded and assembled) and additional BBU strings into 300+ sites in Sydney and Melbourne. The RBS unit weighed 270Kg and was 60x60x180, the batteries each weighed 47Kg and there were 12 per site. To cut a long story short, we finished the turn key project a week early and on budget. Mission accomplished.

Our Solution

Quality project management (lead by Jeff Gresham) and coordination were critical to our sucsess. Having an excellent logistics supplier to physically get the hardware from warehouse was key to our success. Current industry leading logistics companies were not interested and required a premium unrealistic price to perform the work.

Identifying and planning what sites could be hand delivered and which site required crane or mechanical aid was established. Each state had two logistics coordinators one for crane/mechanical sites one for straight hand delivery. Sites varied in difficulty stand walk up, crane with no road closure, crane with road closure and other. Numerous site sin Melbourne required tram line take downs and one site in sydney required helicopter.

Installation and commissioning engineering teams followed the delivery phase.

  • Project completed 1 week ahead of schedule
  • Zero major defects
  • Zero time penalties
  • Maintained excellent customer relations

“Despite limited lead-in time, tight time frames and other impediments, Adnexus applied itself diligently, with enthusiasm and retained a refreshing client-focussed approach to its role. This together with a team based approach to the project was invaluable in ensuring a successful outcome.”
